Elk Stag Beetle

Lucanus elaphus is the largest stag beetle species native to Canada, they have gorgeous reddish brown colouration and the males have the beautiful elongated mandibles typical of stag beetles. The kits we sell have one larva in them with all the food they need to reach adulthood. Once they pupate into adults they can be set up in a larger terrarium and fed various fruit or fruit jellys.

Reddish Brown Stag Beetle

Lucanus placidus is another fantastic stag beetle species, these ones mature a lot faster so you don't have to wait nearly as long to get your adult beetle to watch. Though watching them mature and pupate is half the fun of getting a beetle pet. Again the kit comes with everything the larva needs to reach maturity and then once adults they will need a larger enclosure and fruits.

Forked Fungus Beetles

The Bolitotherus cornutus is an incredible beetle species that have their entire lives and life cycles on bracket fungus. They are very small but full of character, the males have impressive little horns with a little fuzz on the ends. The kit comes with a male and a female as well as enough bracket fungus to last them a good long time.
