Outreach and Groups Over 10 People

Visit with your group
We are NO longer offering PRIVATE TOURS or BIRTHDAY PARTIES at the zoo.
Want to visit with your Daycare group? You must keep a ratio of 1 to 6 while coming to the zoo. One adult per six children 4 and under.
To book one of these visits, please pay ahead of time with the link below.
If your group is 10 or less people, you do not need to book ahead.
Your group MUST be from an institution or for a group of 10 people or larger. This includes but is not limited to, scouts, schools, daycares, and sports teams.
Large Groups at the Zoo
By coming to the Bug Zoo as a general admission group, you must abide by these rules:
- Split into groups of 10 or less and stagger your entrance by a minimum of 30 minutes.
- Groups smaller than yours may be let in before you. In order for your group to be let in, the last large group needs to come out.
- When purchasing tickets, you must pay for everyone at once online.
- If you do not purchase online, you may not be able to visit.
- Only one larger group is allowed at a time.
Cost: General Admission prices plus a 10% discount
Duration: 30 minutes per 10 people.
Capacity: 10 people (including at least one adult) per 30 minutes. If part of a daycare, you must have a minimum of a 6:1 ratio of children to adults.
You may need to book multiple time slots for your group. Please book 10 or less people at a time. You will not be able to book more than 10 people per time slot. There will be a prompt at the end of each purchase to book another group.
We can come to you with bugs!

Please keep in mind that we require at least one month's notice to book any type of private group. Because some months are busier than others, we recommend booking up to 2-3 months in advance.
We are no longer offering private tours at the zoo. If you would like to come visit the bugs with a larger group, please split yourselves in smaller groups of 10 or less people. Within each group, there must be at least one adult. Please stagger your groups by 15-20 minutes. This can be paid for in person.
We are also not accepting any Daycare Visits at the zoo both as private tours.
School, Summer Camp, and Daycare Outreach!
Is your school or daycare in the Greater Victoria Region? We can come to you (with lots of bugs)!
We typically bring a millipede, a cockroach, an arachnid, and several stick insects.
You can have up to two sessions at a single location on the same day. If you have younger friends who might not sit for a whole hour, we can break up the group and do two 30-minute sessions.
Cost: $185 +tax and $0.65/km both ways
Duration: 1 hour
Extra Session on same day: $100 + tax (max 3 per day)
Capacity: Unlimited
Requirements: The presentation must take place indoors with all windows and doors shut for the animals to come out and visit. The larger your group, the less animal handling can take place. Locations must be in the Greater Victoria Region.
We are available to visit Mondays and Thursdays between 10am-5pm. Visits outside of that time frame my incur extra fees.

Could your classroom benefit from a week with an insect kit?
We have many types of kits available to suit different learning outcomes. These kits challenge students to think more about the smaller inhabitants of our world! Kits are available for week-long rentals with pick-up and drop-off at the Victoria Bug Zoo.
Each kit comes with detailed information about each specimen in the kit. They also include copies of interactive activities related to the theme of the kit that are meant to encourage a deeper understanding. The specimens are made of durable acrylic resin, and they can be picked up and examined from all sides. If you have specific outcomes in mind, we can help direct you to the most useful resources as well as answer any questions you may have.

Please note that a cancelation fee will be charged if you cancel your group booking within 48 hours of the event. For business groups, your deposit is not refundable, but if you have paid in full, the other portion of your invoice can be refunded if it is in advance of the 48-hour window.
